Stepped Coupling

The coupling can be used to connect the pipe below or above ground level by observing the following technical specifications. By using the water coupling system, there will be no need for threading , bevelling, welding or flanging the  pipe end  and the problems caused by the contraction and longitudinal expansion in the pipes on this fitting  will be eliminated.

The effect of temperature on the coupling:

The coupling temperature performance depends on the type of rubber gasket (sealing gasket) used in it and can be used up to 100 ° C. The coupling operates at a relatively constant temperature with maximum efficiency. If thermal turbulence occurs, the coupling screws need to be readjusted. Therefore, the coupling cannot be used in places such as central heating with high temperature changes.

Chemical resistance:

The chemical resistance of the coupling is determined by the strength of the metal surface and the rubber material and the inner surface of the coupling.

Pipe Coatings

Some pipes are covered  with a coating layer for protection, which increases the outer the pipe, in which case the coupling can also be used, and to use it is necessary to scrape a thin layer of the protective coating, The pipes should then be re-painted and ready to be installed for cathodic and corrosion protection  .It should be noted that the protective layer must be  removed  only a short distance from the pipes ends and if protective wires are used for cathodic protection of pipes, Nahrabab Gostar Eshtehard Company is of able to provide  suitable couplings in accordance with pipes shapes for use. Therefore, we must be aware of the final diameter of the pipes, i.e.   the outer diameter of the pipe plus the thickness of the coating or protective layer.

Use of couplings for GRP pipes:

Couplings can be used instead of manchoned end  to connect GRP pipes in. The advantages of coupling over manchoned end is as  follows:

When repairing or disconnecting two connected pipes in GRP pipelines, the manchoned end  must be broken, while the coupling can be easily opened and closed due to the bolting  connection.

Resin (adhesive) and fiber welding methods are used to implement GRP pipes, but the coupling connection is used both above and underground .The angular flexibility of the coupling is greater than the angular deflection of the manchoned end.
